Escenas de costumbres (Spanish)

Ya está aquí el pueblo, el de la ruda mano

y el abundante corazón sencillo

con su música alegre de organillo

y su reír descomedido y sano.

 

Teniers lo amaba y lo pintó el primero

a las luces de antorchas macilentas

en orgías alegres y violentas

o en sus fiestas de albogue y de pandero...

 

Y helo aquí que se atraca y refocila

y en pintorescos ágapes desfila

por tabernas, posadas y figones...

 

Grita furioso, ríe a plena boca,

ansioso bebe y come y gusta y toca

y hace cosas de perro en los rincones.

Ím itt a nép, a kérges tenyerű nép,

az egészséges, pogány-féktelen, ki

vígan dalol, ha nyekereg a verkli,

és csupa szív és csupa egyszerűség.

 

Teniers szerette s megfestette őket

- míg körben kormos fáklyák imbolyogtak -

e harsogó-vad, bomlott tombolókat,

dudásokat és cintányér-verőket.

 

Ím itt a zabáló, más-gondja-sincs nép,

ki megtöm kocsmát, fogadót és pincét

vedelni vágyó festői seregben...

 

Rikolt dühödten, röhög két pofára,

koccint és habzsol, élvez mit se bánva,

s kutyálkodik az árnyas szögletekben.
