Despedida a mi madre (Spanish)

Si la suerte fatal que me ha cabido

y el triste fin de mi sangrienta historia

al salir de esta vida transitoria

deja tu corazón de muerte herido,

 

Baste de llanto: el ánimo afligido

Recobre su quietud: muero en la gloria

Y mi plácida lira a tu memoria

Lanza en la tumba su postrer sonido.

 

Sonido dulce, melodioso, santo,

Glorioso, espiritual, puro, divino,

Inocente, espontáneo como el llanto

 

Que vertiera al nacer. Ya el cuello inclino.

Ya de la religión me cubre el manto

Adiós, mi madre! adiós…

Ha a végzetes sors, mely tőrbe ejtett,

s véres történetem, szomoru végem,

midön túllépek ez arasznyi léten,

halálos tőrdöfés szegény szivednek –

 

elég a könny! megleli majd az enyhet

a sebzett szív; dicső halál a részem,

és a sírban is emléked idézem,

ha utolszor kél lantomról a zengzet.

 

Édes zengzet, dallamos, szent, megejtő,

dicsőséges, éteri, tiszta, áldott,

ártatlan, szívből jövő, mint az első

 

csecsemő-sírás; már vérpadra lépek,

már a vallás fölém setét lepelt sző…

Isten áldjon hát, anyám!…
