Derek Walcott (1930-2017) – karibi (angol terminológiával „nyugat-indiai") költő, Santa Lucián és Jamaicában tanult, a Harvardon irodalmat adott elő. Mintegy tizenöt kötet verset és harminc szindarabot írt, valamennyi a karibi szigetvilág életével foglalkozik. 1992-ben Nobel-díjat kapott.
