Acsai Roland: A love poem (Szerelmes vers in English)

Portre of Acsai Roland

Szerelmes vers (Hungarian)

Tegnap nem esett. Ma már esik.
Tegnap még csak készülődtek
A felhők, hogy hozzánk hasonlóan

Megmásszák a tövises, télvégi domboldalt,
Aztán beléjük akadtak a tüskék,
Mint tegnap az én ujjamba,

Meg a kabátomba, és felszakították őket.
Az eső és a felhők nem szimbólumok,
Vagy allegóriák, csak tények, mint

A domboldal, a tüskék, vagy mi ketten,
És nem példáznak semmit az
Idő múlásán és önmagukon kívül,

Vagy, mint a mi esetünkben, az összetartozás
Láthatatlan szálain kívül, amik úgy kötnek
Össze veled, ahogy az esőcseppek
Sűrű öltései az eget a földdel.

A love poem (English)

Yesterday no rain. Today there is.
Yesterday, like we, the clouds were,
Just preparing to scale

The thorny end-of-winter hillside,
But then were caught by the thorns,
Like my finger and coat were yesterday,

And they ripped into them.
The rain and the clouds are not symbols
Or allegories but facts, like

The hillside, the thorns, or the two of us,
And do not exemplify anything, apart from
The passage of time and of themselves,

Or, as in our case, apart from the invisible
Threads of inherence which tie us together
Like tight stitches of raindrops
The sky to the earth.
