Móricz Zsigmond: Csak megmaradni

Portre of Móricz Zsigmond

Csak megmaradni (Hungarian)

A semmibe lezuhanónak
mit ér a csillagok zenéje,
mit ér a rét híme,
az erdők állata,
mit ér a gondolatok ereje,
az évmilliók szózata,
mit ér a hímes perzsaszőnyeg
s a pontos óra a falon,
mit ér a szerelem...

Csak egy kell:
csak egy perc még!
S még egy
és még csak egy...
csak a percek rebegve könyörgött sora...

Összehúzódni a semmiségig:
De megmaradni,
csak megmaradni,
az Élet ruháján sejtporul...

Just To Remain (English)

Someone plunging into nothing
cares not for music of the stars,
the beauty of meadows,
animals in the woods,
cares not for the power of thoughts,
the million years of rhetorics,
cares not for the colourful Persian rugs,
the accurate clock on the wall,
cares not for love…

The only desire:
just one more minute!
And still one more
still just one more…
trembles and begs for minutes to come…

Shrunken down to nothingness:
But to remain,
just to remain
on the garment of Life as cell-dust…
