If You Wake Up (English)If you wake up to feel your pillow is cold, and there’s no reason for getting dressed, if you wake up to have another long day for you to kill time somehow for nothing, for no one, if you wake up to feel sick because of having drunk years before that huge amount of junk brew, well, if you wake up to feel ultimately that all endeavours are in vain, for there’s nowhere to return, and night is a worse shelter than the dirtiest of alms-homes, where at least fleas and lice can have the time of their life, I say, if you wake up not to dare to fall asleep in approaching darkness, then at least don’t boast: look – you’ve survived. It’s no use bragging so very late, look up into the sun, spark within yourself, borrowed fires shouldn’t burn you. Then perhaps, you can still be joined by someone from among the likewise humiliated.
