Aš tokio ąžuolo kaip gyvas nemačiau:

Jo šakos veržiasi, kaip paukščiai, vis aukščiau,

 

Ir saulė vakare į jį kaip jūron grimzta,

Ir spinduliai jame triukšmauja ir nerimsta,

 

Ir plaukia jis erdvėj, didingas ir platus,

Kaip senas burlaivis į tolimus kraštus.

I never in my life saw an oaktree like this one

With branches like birds, climbing higher and higher;

 

An ocean the evening sun sinks in,

With sunglints incessantly droning and chanting;

 

Adrift in space, majestic in its vast span,

Like an old schooner bound for distant lands.
