Válek, Miroslav: Threads (Nite in English)

Portre of Válek, Miroslav

Back to the translator

Nite (Slovak)

A nad soľ vzácnejšie sú pre človeka nite,
keď nemá, čím by prišil záplatu
na to, čo bolí, čo má zostať skrzté
jak chromá ruka pod rukávom kabátu.

Tisíckrát zamkni všetko, čo ťa trápi.
Do krvi zamkni slovo plačúce,
zo živej vody rozumu sa napi,
na jazvy nehľaď, nehľaď na srdce.

Tým, čo ťa ľúbia, pre ich lásku luhaj.
Rozkolíš zvony poézie v nociach tesknoty.
Na nebi smutných vyjdi ako dúha,
nad cudzím srdcom, ktoré nenôti.

Threads (English)

One values threads even over salt
when hasn’t any to sew up a patch
over wounds which hurt and one tries to fold
like a hand with a lifeless clutch.

Thousand times lock all which grieves you!
Into the blood lock the word of cry,
let the clear water of wisdom please you,
On your heart and scars turn the blind eye!

To those, who love you, lie for their love sake.
Rock bells of poetry at the night of doom.
Rise like a rainbow over a sad fate,
over a stranger’s heart which does not croon.
