Άρκοντες τρων και πίνουσι σε μαρμαρένη τάβλαν,
σε μαρμαρένη κι' αργυρή και σε μαλαματένη,
κι' ούλοι τρώσι και πίνουσι κι' αθιολή δε φέρνου,
κι' ο Κωσταντίνος ο μικρός ας εψιλοτραούει,
τ' ακράνη του τ' Ανδρόνικου, του νιου του παινεμένου.
"Μαύρος είσαι, μαύρα φορείς, μαύρο καβαλλικεύγεις.
Μαθθαίνεις το να περπατή, μαθθαίνεις το να δρέμη,
μαθθαίνεις το να έχεται τον όχλον του πολέμου,
μαθθαίνεις τον και της στεριάς ωσάν και του πελάου,
ξεχάνεις και της λυερής της γλυκοποθητής σου".

about Andronicus, his peer, the much-praised youth:
