Eira Stenberg Tamperében született 1943-ban. Bölcsészettudományból diplomát szerzett a helsinki egyetemen 1968-ban, valamint zongorázni tanult a Sibelius Akadémián, ezen kívül filmdramaturgiai tanulmányokat is végzett. Mostanában Eira Stenberg szabadúszó íróként tevékenykedik Helsinkiben.
